Vicalin is a combined drug whose action is due to the properties of the components that make up its composition. Bismuth nitrate creates a protective film on the surface of the gastric mucosa, has anti-inflammatory, astringent and reparative effects. Magnesium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate reduce acidity, reduce the activity of pepsin. Buckthorn bark has a laxative, calamus and Kelin are antispasmodic, and rutin has a mild anti-inflammatory effect.

Indications

As part of the complex therapy of peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, functional dyspepsia, hyperacid gastritis.

Contraindications

Feces during treatment are dark green or black. Pigmentation of the tongue is possible.

During treatment should not drink alcohol. It is necessary to control renal function and the concentration of bismuth in the blood and urine.

Long-term use can lead to an increase in serum magnesium levels, especially in the presence of renal failure.

The drug is recommended to be taken 2:00 before or after the use of other drugs.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

Vicalin should not be used during pregnancy, since there are no studies of the safety of the drug during this period.

If the drug is used, breast-feeding should be discontinued.

There is no data on the effect of Vicalin on the ability to drive vehicles or other mechanisms. However, a similar exposure to vicalin is unlikely.

Adults Vicalin take 1-2 tablets orally 3 times a day 1-1.5 hours after a meal, drinking 50-100 ml of warm water (previously the tablets should be crushed).

Symptoms: nausea, vomiting, the development of methemoglobinemia, alkalosis, swelling of the eyelids, gums; possible hypermagnesemia, hypernatremia and muscle weakness, increased side effects.

The drug neutralizes acids, changes the activity of pancreatin and the absorption of cyanocobalamin, reduces the absorption of tetracycline, coumarin derivatives.

During treatment, Vicalin should not take preparations containing bismuth, to prevent the risk of an increase in the content of bismuth in the blood.

Vicalin should not be used simultaneously with alkaloids, glycosides, enzyme preparations and antibiotics. The time interval between doses of the drug should be at least 2:00.

When combined with lithium preparations, lithium excretion increases, which leads to a decrease in the plasma level and a decrease in the therapeutic response.

Perhaps a decrease in the absorption of other drugs that are used with vicalin.
