Pharmacological properties

Troxerutin is a drug with p-vitamin activity and pronounced angioprotective effect. the drug reduces vascular tissue permeability and fragility of capillaries, helps to normalize and improve tissue trophism, reduces congestion in veins and paravenous areas, has an anti-edematous and anti-inflammatory effect, increases the tone of smooth muscles of venous blood vessels; participates in redox processes; stabilizes the activity of hyaluronic acid in the cell membranes, blocking the activity of hyaluronidase; increases the density of the vascular wall, reduces the exudation of the liquid part of the plasma and diapedesis of blood cells. due to a decrease in the manifestations of exudative inflammation in the vessels, troxerutin limits the adhesion of platelets to the surface of the vascular wall. after taking the capsule inside, the drug is well absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. cmax of the active substance in plasma is observed on average 2 hours after ingestion. penetrates well through the GEB. metabolized in the liver with the formation of several inactive metabolites. partially excreted unchanged in urine and bile.

Indications

Capsules:

• chronic venous insufficiency with such manifestations: edema, trophic skin lesions, including leg ulcers;
• after surgery in connection with varicose veins;
• varicose veins, including during pregnancy (ІІ and ІІІ trimester), superficial thrombophlebitis, phlebitis, periphlebitis, postphlebitic conditions, postthrombotic syndrome;
• hemorrhoids;
• in the complex treatment of diabetic retinopathy;
• paresthesia and convulsions of the lower extremities at night and upon awakening;
• post-traumatic edema and hematomas.

Gel:

• prevention and treatment of varicose veins;
• pain and swelling of the extremities due to venous insufficiency;
• trophic disorders and ulcers in chronic venous insufficiency;
• thrombosis, thrombophlebitis;
• postphlebitic conditions;
• closed injuries (including sports).

Application

Capsules venorutinol is taken orally during meals, 1 capsule 2 times a day (morning and evening). maintenance therapy - 1 capsule per day. sometimes the desired effect is noted after applying a dose of 600 mg (2 capsules) per day.

Gelatin capsules should be swallowed without chewing.

The duration of the drug is determined by the severity of the disease. Typically, the course of treatment is 3-4 weeks.

Gel. The drug is used externally. The gel is applied in a thin layer in the morning and evening on the affected areas using light massaging movements until it is completely absorbed into the skin. The course of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and can last up to 20 days.

Contraindications

Capsules

• hypersensitivity to troxerutin and / or any component of the drug;
• peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum, chronic gastritis (in the acute phase);
• childhood.

Gel.

• hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
• age up to 14 years.

Side effects

Capsules when using venorutinol capsules, adverse reactions rarely occur.

From the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dyspepsia are possible. In rare cases, erosive and ulcerative lesions of the digestive tract are noted.

Skin allergic reactions are possible - urticaria, itching; rarely - headache, facial flushing, sleep disturbance.

Gel. In some cases, local hypersensitivity reactions occur - urticaria, dermatitis, eczema. Most of these manifestations quickly disappear after discontinuation of the drug.

special instructions

Capsules the drug is prescribed with caution in patients with severe diseases of the liver and gall bladder.long-term use of venorutinol is not recommended for patients with severe renal impairment.

Venorutinol is used with meals, given that it irritates the gastric mucosa.

The drug contains lactose, therefore, patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome should not use this drug.

Patients with edema of the lower extremities caused by diseases of the heart, kidneys or liver should not use the drug, since it is not effective in these conditions.

Gel. Do not apply to affected areas of the skin, make sure that the drug does not get into the eyes and mucous membranes. Can be applied under an occlusive dressing.

Use during pregnancy and lactation.

It should not be used in the first 3 months of pregnancy.

In the second and third trimester of pregnancy and during lactation, it is possible to use the drug under the supervision of a doctor if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus / baby.

In the case of the use of the drug in women who are breast-feeding, it is recommended to stop breastfeeding.

Children. The effectiveness and safety of the drug in children have not been studied.

Interactions

Capsules the drug enhances the effect of ascorbic acid with respect to strengthening the structure and reducing the permeability of the vascular wall.

Overdose

Capsules Symptoms of side effects may increase (nausea, diarrhea, dyspepsia, abdominal pain and headache, sleep disturbance, skin allergic reactions).

The treatment is symptomatic. Stop taking the drug, induce vomiting, or rinse your stomach. If necessary, peritoneal dialysis can be prescribed.
