Pharmacological properties

Tetrizoline, when applied topically, stimulates the α-adrenergic receptors of the sympathetic nervous system, which causes vasoconstriction with a decrease in tissue edema; reduces the severity of burning, irritation, itching, soreness and lacrimation.

The vasoconstrictor effect develops several minutes after instillation into the eye and lasts up to 4 hours.

Tetrizoline is practically not absorbed when applied topically in therapeutic doses.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment for edema and secondary hyperemia due to moderate irritating effects on the conjunctiva of smoke, dust, chlorinated water, an allergic reaction, nonspecific or catarrhal conjunctivitis.

Application

Do not screw the cap tightly before use!

Screw the cap as far as possible before first use. In this case, the spike, which is located on the inside of the cap, punctures the hole in the bottle. Immediately before use, you should hold the bottle in the palm of your hand to warm it to body temperature.

Unscrew the cap, remove it, and, having slightly pressed on the body of the bottle, put the solution into the eyes (conjunctival cavity).

In order to avoid spontaneous leakage of the solution during storage after instillation of the drug, screw the cap tightly so that the spike that is on the inside of the cap closes the hole in the bottle. Store the drug in accordance with the recommendations specified in the STORAGE CONDITIONS section (in an upright position).

Vial is for topical use only.

Adults and children over the age of 6 years are instilled with 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac of the affected eye (s) 2 or 3 times a day.

For children under the age of 6, the drug is used only under the supervision of a doctor.

Continuous use of the drug is recommended no more than 72 hours in a row.
