Pharmacological properties
amylmethacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol have an antiseptic effect, lidocaine is a local anesthetic. Strepsils Plus is an antiseptic combination drug with local anesthetic effect. active against a wide range of gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms in vitro; also has an antifungal effect.
Pharmacokinetics Lidocaine is easily absorbed by the membranes of the mucous membrane. T½ is about 2 hours. The metabolism takes place in the liver with the formation of an active metabolite - monoethylglycerinxylidine, which is then hydrolyzed to various metabolites, including glycinexylidide. These metabolites enhance both the therapeutic and toxic effects of lidocaine. Less than 10% is excreted by the kidneys unchanged. Metabolites are also excreted in the urine. Due to the insignificant absorption of amylmethacresol and 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol in the blood, the drug belongs to topical agents. With this in mind, the pharmacokinetic parameters of these components were not determined.
Indications
Symptomatic treatment of infections of the oral cavity and throat, as well as to relieve severe sore throat.
Application
Lollipops: recommended for adults and children over 12 years old. apply 1 lollipop every 2 hours if necessary. the candy must be dissolved until completely dissolved. Do not use more than 8 candies within 24 hours. For the elderly, there is no need to reduce the dose.
Spray: for adults and children over 12 years old, irrigate the inflamed area by pressing the sprayer twice (1 dose), if necessary, repeat every 2 hours, but no more than 8 times a day. It is not required to reduce the dose for the elderly.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug or other amide local anesthetics. spray is contraindicated in patients with BA and bronchospasm. Lollipops are contraindicated in patients with fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, sucrose-isomaltose malabsorption.
Side effects
The following adverse reactions have been identified with the short-term use of doses of 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, amylmethacresol and lidocaine in over-the-counter doses. in the case of prolonged treatment in chronic conditions, additional side effects may occur. during the treatment of patients with chronic diseases with prolonged use, additional side effects may occur.
Adverse reactions that occurred with the use of 2,4-dichlorobenzyl alcohol, amylmethacresol and lidocaine are given by organ systems and their frequency. The frequency of adverse reactions is determined as follows: very often (≥1 / 10), often (from ≥1 / 100 to 1/10), infrequently (from ≥1 / 1000 to 1/100), rarely (from ≥1 / 10,000 up to 1/1000), very rarely (1/10 000) and the frequency is unknown (cannot be estimated taking into account the available data). Within each frequency group, adverse reactions are given in decreasing order of severity.

special instructions
Do not exceed recommended dose. if the symptoms of the disease persist for more than 3 days, accompanied by hyperthermia, headache or other symptoms, an additional correction of the treatment regimen is necessary.in case of violation of the sensitivity of the tongue, care must be taken when consuming hot food and water. spray can cause numbness of the tongue, so care should be taken when eating food or drinks after using the drug. do not breathe spray. Patients taking any other medicines should consult a doctor before using the spray.
The drug should not be used immediately before and during meals to prevent food from entering the airways due to the local anesthetic effect of lidocaine.
The local analgesic effect of lidocaine can cause temporary numbness of the oral cavity and pharynx, as well as affect the swallowing process.
Use with caution in patients with erosive and desquamative changes in the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, fresh large wounds in the oral cavity and pharynx.
Do not exceed recommended doses.
Patients with diabetes should be aware that one Strepsils Plus lollipop contains about 2.6 g of sugar.
Use during pregnancy and lactation. The safety of the drug for use in pregnant and lactating women has not been established. Therefore, it is not recommended to use this drug during pregnancy and lactation, except when the patient is under medical supervision.
Children. For children under 12 years of age, the drug is not recommended.

Overdose
