A combined preparation containing vitamins, minerals and plant carotenoids.

Replenishes the deficiency of vitamins and minerals. It has an antioxidant effect. The effect of the drug is due to the effects of the substances that make up its composition.

Lutein and zeaxanthin are the only carotenoids contained directly in the retina (in the macula lutea). The action of these substances is due to their high antioxidant activity and ability to filter the harmful part of the light spectrum. Lutein and zeaxanthin have an antioxidant, screening and absorbing effect, reduce the risk of age-related disorders.

Betakarotin plays an important role in the construction of the visual pigment rhodopsin, which ensures the adaptation of the eye to poor lighting, and also has an antioxidant effect.

The action of vitamin C - a water-soluble antioxidant - in the drug is combined with the action of vitamin E, which protects cells and tissues from the damaging effects of excess free radicals and lipid peroxidation.

Copper and zinc function as components of numerous metal enzymes, catalyzing their action and preventing the formation of free radicals.

Indications

Replenishment of necessary vitamins and minerals for eye diseases (age-related retinal degeneration, cataracts, retinopathy, optic nerve diseases);

• prevention of age-related visual impairment and eye diseases in risk groups (over 55 years old; in patients with diabetes mellitus; in the presence of a hereditary predisposition to cataracts or retinal degeneration; in smokers; people with bright eyes);
• prevention of eye diseases with increased loads on them (working with a computer, under the influence of UV rays, radiation from television screens); with violations of night adaptation of vision; during the recovery period after ophthalmic surgery.

Application

Applied orally during or after meals. in adults and children over the age of 12 years, apply 1 tablet 1 time per day for 2-3 months. The maximum daily dose is 1 tablet. the duration of the course of treatment is determined individually. if necessary, in the absence of a lasting effect, repeat courses are prescribed after consultation with a doctor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, severe renal failure, chronic glomerulonephritis, sarcoidosis, hypervitaminosis a and e, thrombophlebitis, impaired iron or copper metabolism, thyrotoxicosis, concomitant use of retinoids.

Side effects

Persons with hypersensitivity - allergic reactions (skin rashes, urticaria, etc.), including anaphylactic shock, angioedema, hyperthermia, itching, bronchospasm; headache, dizziness.

There were no reports of side effects of lutein, zeaxanthin, small amounts of vitamin C (up to 2000 mg / day for adults).

Side effects of copper include abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Long-term use of large amounts of zinc can lead to copper deficiency.

The maximum effect of carotenoids is observed when taken with food containing fats (especially vegetable oils).

Do not exceed recommended dose.

The drug contains lactose, so it should not be used in patients with hereditary galactose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or lactase deficiency.

The drug is used with caution in patients with urolithiasis, decompensation of cardiac activity, gallstone disease, chronic pancreatitis, in patients with acute nephritis, with a tendency to thrombosis. Do not use in patients with fructose intolerance.

The drug is not recommended to be taken simultaneously with other multivitamins, since an overdose of the latter is possible.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. During pregnancy and lactation, the drug is used only in cases where, according to the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus / child.

Children. The drug is not used in children under the age of 12 years.

Interactions

When used with other drugs containing the same vitamins and minerals, their total effect must be taken into account. the simultaneous use of colestyramine, colestipol, orlistat and laxatives reduces the absorption of carotenoids. Vitamin C enhances the effect and manifestations of adverse reactions of sulfonamides. absorption of vitamin E can be disrupted by iron and silver preparations.

Overdose

In case of an overdose, it is possible to increase the side effect of the drug and the development of manifestations of hypervitaminosis a, c, e, the occurrence of allergic reactions, dyspeptic disorders, including pain in the epigastric region, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, diarrhea, and an increase in the excitability of the nervous system. treatment: activated carbon, gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy.
