Pharmacological properties

Oftolik - a drug that exerts a protective effect on the cornea of ​​the eye while reducing secretion of the lacrimal fluid, provides the necessary moisturizing effect by continuously contacting the cornea of ​​the eye. the main component, polyvinyl alcohol, exhibits properties similar to those of mucin (a substance that is produced by the conjunctival eye). in combination with povidone, it enhances the effect of lubrication, which reduces the severity of irritation and dryness of the surface of the eye. thickening of the tear film provides a calming effect on the eye in case of a change in the properties of mucin, for example, for colds, bacterial, fungal and inflammatory lesions of the eyes. the protective function of the thickened layer of tears is especially noticeable with injuries and erosion of the conjunctiva and cornea. does not have a systemic effect.

Indications

Dry keratoconjunctivitis and other diseases accompanied by dry eye syndrome.

Application

Adults and children over 7 years of age, 1-2 drops in the conjunctival sac of each eye 3-4 times a day. the course of treatment is 14-21 days. repeated courses of treatment, a change in the duration of the course is determined by the doctor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, age up to 7 years.

Side effects

Immediately after instillation, short-term blurred vision, a tingling sensation and local eye irritation, an allergic reaction are possible.

special instructions

During treatment, soft contact lenses should not be worn. Before applying eye drops, solid contact lenses must be removed and reinstalled no earlier than 20 minutes later.

If more than one type of eye drops is prescribed at the same time, they must be used with an interval of at least 15–20 minutes, while Oftalik is always instilled last.

The use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation has not been studied, therefore it is permissible only if the therapeutic effect for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or infant.

Since immediately after instillation of the drug, a short-term decrease in visual acuity is possible, before starting driving or working with mechanisms, it is necessary to wait until visual acuity is fully restored.

Interactions

It prolongs the absorption of other ophthalmic drugs (adrenergic agonists, antibiotics, β-adrenoreceptor blockers, corticosteroids, etc.).
