Floxal is indicated for the treatment of infections of the anterior segment of the eye caused by pathogenic microorganisms sensitive to ofloxacin, such as bacterial inflammations of the conjunctiva, cornea of ​​the eye, edges of the eyelids and lacrimal sac, barley and corneal ulcer.

Structure

active substance: ofloxacin;

1 ml ofloxacin 3 mg 1 drop contains 0.1 mg ofloxacin;

Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, sodium chloride, water for injection.

Ofloxacin, a derivative of quinolone acid, is a fluoroquinolone (gyrase inhibitor), an antibiotic that has a bactericidal effect.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, other quinolones.

Dosage and administration

The dose of the drug and the duration of treatment are always determined by the doctor depending on the severity of the disease and the age of the patient.

Unless otherwise prescribed, Floxal®, eye drops, should be administered 1 drop 4 times a day into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye. Duration of Floxal Treatment ^® , eye drops should not exceed 2 weeks.

Directions for use

Gently pull the lower eyelid down and, gently pressing the bottle with a dropper, introduce 1 drop into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye.

Children

Floxal ^® , eye drops, can be prescribed to children from 1 year.

Application features

Despite the lack of evidence of any embryotoxic effects, Floxal ^®, eye drops, if possible, should not be used during pregnancy and lactation.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms

The use of Floxal ^® , eye drops, does not affect the patient’s reaction rate.

After instillation of the drug into the conjunctival sac of the eye, blurred vision may be observed for several minutes. While vision is blurry, patients should refrain from driving or operating machinery.

Overdose

There have been no reports of cases of overdose.

Symptomatic treatment, immediately rinse the eye (s) with water.

Adverse reactions

Immediately after administration of the drug, blurred vision may occur for several minutes.

Common manifestations.

Serious reactions after systemic administration of ofloxacin are rare, most of the symptoms are reversed. Despite the fact that a small amount of ofloxacin is absorbed into the systemic circulation when applied topically, the possibility of the occurrence of the reported side effects cannot be ruled out.

In rare cases (from 1/10 000 to 1/1 000), deposits on the cornea are possible, especially if there is a history of corneal diseases.

There are reports that when applied topically, reactions such as toxic epidermal necrolysis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, very rarely occurred. Causal relationship with Floxal ^® , eye drops in relation to such manifestations have not been established.

From the side of the digestive tract: rarely nausea.

On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissue: rarely - facial swelling, periorbital edema.

Serious, sometimes fatal, hypersensitivity reactions, sometimes after the first dose, were observed with systemic use of quinolones.

Interaction with other drugs and other types of interactions
