The composition of the drug:

active substance: norfloxacin; 1 ml of solution contains norfloxacin 3 mg (0.003 g);

excipients: sodium chloride, decamethoxin, disodium edetate, buffer solution, purified water.

An antibacterial agent of the fluoroquinolone group.

Pharmacological properties

Norfloxacin - an antimicrobial agent of the fluoroquinolone group; inhibits the activity of DNA-gyrase of a bacterial cell, stops the replication of bacterial DNA.

Norfloxacin has a wide spectrum of antimicrobial activity relative to the vast majority of gram-negative microorganisms.

Indications for use

Norfloxacin is used to treat superficial infections of the eyes (bacterial conjunctivitis, keratitis, blepharitis), infections of the external and middle ear (external otitis media, chronic purulent

otitis media).

Dosage and administration

The dose, frequency and duration of use is determined individually by the doctor!

Eyes.

In acute infectious eye diseases, the drug is instilled in 1 - 2 drops every 15 - 30 minutes, then the frequency of instillations is reduced.

In a moderately pronounced process, 1 to 2 drops are instilled 2 to 6 times a day. In acute and chronic trachoma, 2 drops are instilled into each eye 2 to 4 times a day for 1 to 2 months.

After the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease, the use of the drug should be continued for the next 48 hours.

The ears.

For diseases of the ears, 5 drops are instilled into the ear 3 times a day. Drops should have body temperature. Before applying the drops, sanitation of the external auditory canal should be carried out.

The patient should lie on his side or tilt his head to facilitate instillation. After instillation, the head should be kept in this position for approximately 2 minutes. In the external auditory canal

put cotton wool.

After the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease, the use of the drug should be continued for the next 48 hours.

Side effects

Local reactions (burning sensation or pain, hyperemia and conjunctival edema, photophobia) are possible. In case of adverse events or unusual reactions, consult your doctor

regarding the further use of the drug.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity (allergy) to norfloxacin and other fluoroquinolone drugs.

Pregnancy and lactation.

Children and adolescents up to 15 years.

Interaction with other drugs with topical application of norfloxacin is not described.

Overdose

No cases of overdose of Norfloxacin in ophthalmology and otology have been reported.

In case of accidental ingestion of drops, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and a feeling of anxiety are observed. In this case, you should consult a doctor.

Norfloxacin in the form of drops is intended for topical use only.

To achieve the best therapeutic effect, drops should be used in combination with systemic antimicrobial therapy (with the exception of mild cases).

With caution, Norfloxacin drops are used in patients with epilepsy, convulsive syndrome of another etiology, with severe impaired liver / kidney function, with atherosclerosis, and cerebral vessels

brain.

Perhaps the development of photophobia; wear sunglasses and avoid prolonged exposure to bright light.

For 30 minutes after instillation of the drug into the eyes, one should refrain from driving and engaging in potentially hazardous activities that require increased

attention.
