Pharmacological properties
The drug nitrofungin is characterized by an antiseptic and disinfecting effect on gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, mycobacteria, some fungi. active against the causative agent of dermatomycosis. the drug nitrofungin neo belongs to the group of derivatives of undecylenic acid, has a fungicidal and fungistatic effect. fungistatic effect is significantly expressed in relation to dermatophytes, facultative pathogenic fungi of the species scropulariopsis and yeast species of the candida species.
For external use, Nitrofungin Neo is not absorbed by the skin.
Phenol is absorbed in the digestive tract, skin, mucous membranes. Metabolized to phenyl glucuronide and phenyl sulfate. An insignificant part of phenol is oxidized to catecholamines and quinol. Metabolites are excreted in the urine, which in this case can acquire a light green color.
Indications
Treatment and prevention of dermatomycosis, especially interdigital / plantar foot dermatomycosis, epidermophytosis, trichophytosis, mycotic eczema; candidiasis and mixed skin infections, mycosis of the external auditory canal.
Application
Solution for external use nitrofungin: the drug can be used by adults and children over the age of 15 years. on the affected areas, the solution of the drug is applied pointwise or rubbed 2-3 times a day. duration of treatment — after the disappearance of signs of the disease, it is necessary to use the drug in the same way 1-2 times a week (with the goal of reliable cure) for 4 weeks. if these recommendations are not followed, a relapse of the disease is possible.
For the prevention of relapse, the drug is used 1-2 times a week.
As a rule, apply undiluted solution. In cases accompanied by severe local inflammation, as well as skin irritation, Nitrofungin solution diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1 can be used.
Solution for external use and spray for external use Nitrofungin Neo. For adults and children over the age of 2 years, the solution of the drug is applied pointwise or rubbed 2-3 times a day; the spray is applied by spraying on the affected areas of the skin with an interval of 8-12 hours (preferably in the morning and evening) until the symptoms of the disease disappear. To prevent recurrence of the disease, it is necessary to continue the use of the drug and after the disappearance of symptoms in the same way 1-2 times a week for 4 weeks.
Usually undiluted solution is used only in cases of acute inflammatory process on the skin; if skin irritation occurs during treatment, the drug is diluted with water in a ratio of 1: 1.
Contraindications
Nitrofungin: Hypersensitivity to chlornitrophenol and other components of the drug, for children under the age of 15 years.

Side effects

Overdose
Cases of overdose with topical administration of nitrofungin are not described.
If phenol is accidentally swallowed, nausea, vomiting, excessive sweating, and diarrhea appear. After the excitement, which appears at the beginning, the patient may lose consciousness.
After swallowing phenol, the stomach should be washed with a solution containing olive or other vegetable oil to prevent further absorption. Assign the intake of activated carbon.
