Menovazin® [Benzocaine, Menthol, Procaine]

Pharmacological properties

Menovazan is a combined preparation containing menthol, procaine and benzocaine. Due to the selective effect of menthol on cold receptors, the ointment causes a feeling of cold, and its irritating effect can be replaced by a slight anesthetic.

Menthol will reflexively change the tone of both the superficial vessels and those located deeper.

Procaine has a fairly pronounced anesthetic effect. It does not affect vascular tone.

Benzocaine causes superficial analgesia.

The combination of the above components in one drug causes a reversible violation of the excitability of nerve receptors and the conductivity of nerve fibers in case of direct contact with them, has an irritating and distracting effect, suppresses the excitability of nerve fiber membranes, reduces the amplitude of the action potential, increases the threshold for depolarization of the nerve fiber membrane, reduces the rate of development ascending phase of the action potential, reduce the degree of excitation in the nerve elements.

Indications

Neuralgia, myalgia, arthralgia; dermatoses accompanied by itching.

Application

Outwardly 2-3 r / day for grinding painful or damaged skin areas. the course of therapy depends on the form and course of the disease, as well as on the nature of concomitant therapy. the maximum daily dose is 9 g.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible (including hyperemia, skin irritation, itching, rash, edema, urticaria), contact dermatitis.

special instructions

Do not apply on the skin with the presence of symptoms of an allergic reaction, on the skin of the face, damaged skin.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. There is no experience with the use of the drug during pregnancy and lactation.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with mechanisms. You should refrain from driving vehicles or working with machinery, since dizziness is possible.

Children. Do not use in children under the age of 12 years.

Interactions

It is not recommended to be used simultaneously with other locally acting agents (enhance the effects of drugs with local anesthetic effect). the components of the drug (procaine, benzocaine) reduce the antibacterial effect of sulfa drugs.

With the simultaneous use of any other medicines, you should inform your doctor.

Overdose

In case of long-term use, dizziness, general weakness, ↓ hell, allergic reactions are possible.

If these symptoms occur, the drug should be discontinued, the residue washed off the surface of the skin with water and consult a doctor. Therapy is symptomatic.
