Pharmacological properties
The preparation gerbion syrup of Icelandic moss contains a thick extract of Icelandic moss, which has an antitussive, immunostimulating, antibacterial and anti-inflammatory effect. The main components of the extract of Icelandic moss are mucus in the form of water-soluble polysaccharides, mainly lichenin and isolechenin, as well as bitter lichen acids. polysaccharides exhibit an enveloping effect on the mucous membranes of the upper respiratory tract, forming a protective layer that has a calming effect on the surface of the mucous membranes, thereby reducing the cough reflex caused by external irritants, and softening dry and irritating coughs. mucus also combines with water on the surface of the mucous membrane and thus has a local enveloping effect on irritated and dry mucous membranes of the mouth and throat.
