Pharmacological properties
Hexalyse is a combination drug that has a lasting local effect. the active ingredients of the drug - lysozyme, biclotimol and enoxolone - determine its antiseptic, anti-inflammatory, analgesic and cleansing effects.
Lysozyme, a small stable enzyme, a natural polypeptide with a molecular weight of 14.3 kDa, is an important part of the immune system and is determined in biological fluids and tissues of many living organisms. Lysozyme plays a key role in protecting the body against infections due to its ability to inhibit the growth of a wide range of gram-positive bacteria by effectively destroying the peptidoglycan layer of the cell wall of the microorganism (hydrolysis of the β-1,4-glycosidic bond). In addition to enzymatic activity, due to cationic properties, lysozyme forms pores in negatively charged bacterial membranes, which ultimately leads to the death of the pathogen, which has lost resistance to osmotic stress.
The antimicrobial function of lysozyme is combined with an immunomodulatory effect: lysozyme-mediated destruction of microorganisms enhances the release of bacterial products that stimulate a pro-inflammatory response. Along with this, lysozyme plays a role in the systemic limitation of inflammation, inhibiting the growth of bacteria, reducing chemotaxis and the formation of an oxidative “explosion” in neutrophils. Lysozyme can directly bind and neutralize extracellular prooxidant bioreactive derivatives - the final products of progressive glycation.
Lysozyme also has antiviral activity. In addition, it enhances the humoral immune and local cellular defense, contributes to the rapid excretion of metabolic products of damaged tissues.
Biclotimol, a derivative of thymol, has a multiple spectrum of action, showing bacteriostatic and bactericidal activity. The antimicrobial properties of biclotimol are due to its direct effect on the constitutive mucopolysaccharides of the bacterial wall, and due to the association of biclotimol with the proteins of the mucous membrane of the oropharynx, prolongation of this effect is provided. In addition to the antibacterial activity, biclotimol in therapeutic doses has a rapid local anti-inflammatory effect along with analgesic properties.
Enoxolone is a pentacyclic triterpenoid - an aglyconic metabolite of glycyrrhizin, which is found in licorice (Glycyrrhiza glabra). Enoxolone plays the role of an immunomodulator, it is widely known for its anti-inflammatory properties by inhibiting the metabolism of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins and preventing the conversion of cortisol to cortisone with a corresponding inhibition of the synthesis and release of cytokines involved in the inflammatory reaction. Enoxolone also blocks the synthesis of histamine and its release by inhibiting an increase in intracellular calcium concentration. The antibacterial and antiviral, as well as analgesic effects of enoxolone are described.
Due to the extremely slow absorption of the drug through the mucous membranes, conditions are created for its continued presence in the oral cavity.
Indications
Topical treatment of diseases of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity, pharynx and larynx of an infectious-inflammatory nature:
- tonsillitis;
- pharyngitis;
- laryngitis, stomatitis;

- Hypersensitivity to the drug; children under the age of 6 years.
Side effects
Hypersensitivity to the active pharmaceutical ingredient or other components of the drug.
Probably the development (in isolated cases) of such allergic reactions as Quinckes edema, skin rashes, urticaria, erythema.
special instructions
The period of use of the drug should not be 5 days.
1 tablet of Hexalyse contains 1,054 g of powdered sugar, this must be taken into account when treating patients with diabetes mellitus or following a carbohydrate-restricted diet.
Due to the presence of sucrose in the preparation, it is not recommended for use in patients with fructose intolerance, glucose / galactose malabsorption syndrome or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency.
Perhaps the development of allergic reactions to such an ingredient of the drug as the dye orange-yellow S (E110).
In case of complaints of severe sore throat or ulceration on the mucous membrane of the oropharynx, the appearance of nausea, vomiting, headache, and also at high body temperature, a second examination of the patient is required, followed by a review of the therapeutic strategy.
Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.
No effect on the reaction rate was noted when driving vehicles or other mechanisms.
