Pharmacological properties
Hepabene is a combined herbal preparation containing the extract of medicinal haze and dry extract of the fruit of milk thistle. The extract of the smoky medicinal contains the fumarin alkaloid, which has a choleretic effect, normalizes the secretion of bile, and reduces the tone of the sphincter of Oddi.
Milk thistle fruit extract contains silymarin, a bioflavonoid that includes the isomers silibinin, silidianin, and silicristine. Silymarin has a hepatoprotective effect in acute and chronic intoxications, exhibits membrane-stabilizing properties and helps restore liver cells.
Pharmacokinetics After oral administration, silymarin is mainly eliminated with bile and is subject to enterohepatic circulation.
Indications
Treatment of patients with biliary dyskinesia (including after cholecystectomy) and with concomitant chronic liver diseases.
Application
Hepabene capsules are taken after meals. the capsule should be swallowed whole, without chewing, and washed down with a sufficient amount of liquid.
Adults are advised to take Hepabene 1 capsule 3 times a day.
For night pain, an additional dose of 1 capsule is recommended before bedtime. If necessary, the daily dose of the drug is increased to a maximum of 6 capsules (2 capsules 3 times a day).
The course of treatment is determined by the doctor individually, depending on the nature and course of the disease.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to active substances or other plants from the family Asteraceae or to any of the components of the drug; acute inflammatory diseases of the liver and biliary tract; acute hepatitis and cholangitis; acute poisoning of various etiologies; cholelithiasis; bile duct obstruction.
Side effects
From the digestive system: nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, heartburn, diarrhea;
from the urinary system: increased urine output;

Interactions

Overdose
