Pharmacological properties

Broncholytin tab is a centrally acting antitussive drug. contains the Glaucine alkaloid obtained from the plant Glaucineum flavum (yellow sac), which suppresses the center of coughing. unlike codeine, Glaucine does not affect the respiratory center and does not cause drug dependence. it does not affect intestinal motility, exhibits weak antispasmodic activity, has a sympatholytic effect and can reduce hell. possesses anti-inflammatory effect.

Pharmacokinetics With oral administration, the drug is rapidly resorbed in the digestive tract. Time to reach C_max in blood plasma - about 1.5 hours after administration. It is metabolized in the liver and excreted mainly in the urine.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment of dry cough of various etiologies in infectious and inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract, including acute and chronic bronchitis, flu.

Application

Broncholytin tab is used internally, it is recommended to take the drug after a meal.

Adults A single dose for adults is 40 mg, which is used 2-3 times a day. In more severe cases, a single dose can be increased to 80 mg. The maximum daily dose should not exceed 200 mg.

Children from 4 years old. A single dose is 10 mg, which is taken 2-3 times a day.

The maximum daily dose should not exceed 40 mg.

Patients with impaired liver and kidney function. For patients with kidney and liver diseases, it is necessary to reduce the dose of the drug or increase the interval between doses.

The duration of treatment with Broncholytin Tab should not exceed 5 days. The use of the drug for a longer period and in higher doses is possible only as directed and under the constant supervision of a doctor.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active or any of the excipients of the drug; arterial hypotension; acute myocardial infarction.

Side effects

The drug is characterized by good tolerance. rarely, when applying a high single dose in excess of 80 mg, dizziness, headache, drowsiness, weakness and fatigue, nausea and vomiting, and a decrease in hell may occur. allergic reactions are possible, including itching, rashes on the skin.

special instructions

Broncholytin tab should not be used for a productive cough, accompanied by sputum production, as there is a risk of obstruction of the bronchi as a result of a delay in bronchial secretion.

In the case of labile blood pressure, a doctors consultation is necessary. Broncholytin Tab should be used with caution because of the risk of collapse as a result of the sympatholytic effect of Glaucine.

The preparation contains wheat starch as an auxiliary substance, which may contain gluten, but only in small quantities, therefore it is considered safe for people with celiac disease.

Patients with an allergy to wheat (other than celiac disease) should not use this medicine.

The drug as an auxiliary substance in the composition of the shell contains sucrose.In patients with rare hereditary fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or a deficiency of sucrose-isomaltase, Broncholytin should not be used.

Dye E 110 or E 124 can cause allergic reactions.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. Caution is advised to use Broncholytin Tab in pregnant and lactating women, after assessing the benefit / risk ratio.

Children. The drug should not be used to treat children under the age of 4 years.

Interactions

There are no data on known adverse drug interactions with the drug Broncholytin tab. it can be used in combination with antibiotics, chemotherapeutic agents and other drugs.

Broncholytin Tab should not be used concurrently with cough suppressing drugs, both central (codeine, codterpin) and peripheral mechanism of action (exangitis, prenoxdiazine). A combination with drugs that cause a decrease in bronchial secretion (for example, atropine derivatives) is not justified.

Broncholytin Tab can be used simultaneously with bronchodilators, cardiovascular drugs.

The active substance is effectively combined with ephedrine, citric acid, basil oil in combined preparations in the form of syrups to reduce the intensity of coughing.

Overdose

Symptoms: dizziness, headache, drowsiness, weakness and fatigue, nausea, vomiting, decreased hell.

Treatment: generally accepted measures are used to quickly remove the drug from the body (gastric lavage, the use of activated charcoal, infusion of water-salt solutions), as well as symptomatic treatment.
