Pharmacological properties
Expectorant. Gelomyrtol contains as an active substance a plant-derived essential oil - standardized myrtol.
The standardized myrtle has secretomotor and secretolytic effects, which contribute to liquefaction of sputum, activation of mucociliary epithelium and, as a result, to intensive secretion of sputum. When used in high doses, standardized myrtol also has antimicrobial, immunomodulatory, antispasmodic and vasodilatory effects.
Pharmacokinetics not studied.
Indications
It is used in complex therapy for the treatment of acute and chronic bronchitis, with inflammatory diseases of the sinuses (sinusitis).
Application
Gelomirtol and Gelomirtol forte capsules are recommended to be taken 30 minutes before meals, with plenty of cold water or other drinks.
Gelomyrtol. In the clinical picture of acute inflammatory disease, it is recommended to take 2 capsules of the drug Gelomyrtol 4-5 times a day. In order to create conditions for improving sleep, the last dose should be taken before bedtime. In a chronic inflammatory process, 2 capsules of Gelomyrtol are prescribed 3 times a day. The same dosage regimen is recommended for long-term therapy.
To facilitate the morning discharge of sputum in chronic bronchitis, it is recommended to take an additional 2 capsules of Gelomyrtol before bedtime.
Children aged 3-10 years (this drug is prescribed for children at a time when they can swallow the capsule on their own) should be prescribed no more than half the recommended dose for adults. The drug is taken during the manifestation of symptoms of the disease and for 2-4 days after their disappearance.
Gelomyrtol forte. In the clinical picture of acute inflammation, take 1 capsule 3-4 times a day. In order to create conditions for improving sleep, the last dose should be taken before bedtime.
In the chronic process, take 1 capsule 2 times a day. The same dosage is recommended for long-term therapy.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; inflammatory diseases of the stomach, intestines and biliary tract; severe liver dysfunction.
Side effects
Rarely (1-10 cases per 1000), pain and discomfort in the digestive tract can occur. very rarely (1-10 cases per 10,000) nausea, vomiting, diarrhea can occur. cases of allergic reactions, including skin rash, itching, redness, swelling of the face, shortness of breath, circulatory disorders, are also noted. in 1 case per 10,000, exacerbation of gallstone and urolithiasis may occur.
special instructions
If the symptoms of the disease do not disappear or the patients condition worsens, if shortness of breath appears, the body temperature rises, blood or pus appears in the sputum, you should immediately consult a doctor.
Patients with asthma, whooping cough should consult a doctor before using the drug.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding. Although there is no information about the negative effect of the drug Gelomyrtol on the fetus, during pregnancy and lactation it is taken only under the supervision of a doctor, especially in the first trimester.
Children. Gelomyrtol is used in children over the age of 3 years, and Gelomyrtol forte - from 6 years.
