Pharmacological properties
Extraterm is a combined drug that has an expectorant, antitussive and anti-inflammatory effect.
Thermopsis enhances the secretion of bronchial glands. Alkaloids (cytisine, methylcytisine, pachycarpin, anagirin, thermopsin and thermopsidin), which are contained in the thermopsis, have an exciting effect on the respiratory center.
Sodium benzoate and ammonium chloride have an expectorant effect, help to eliminate mucus from the respiratory tract when coughing.
Sodium bicarbonate stimulates the secretion of bronchial glands, helping to reduce the viscosity of sputum.
Indications
Diseases of the respiratory tract, which are accompanied by a cough (especially with difficulty in sputum discharge): tracheitis, bronchitis, bronchopneumonia.
Application
Adults and children over the age of 12 years are prescribed by mouth 1 tablet 3-4 times a day. Before use, it is advisable to dissolve the tablet in ¼ cup of warm water or drink it with the same amount of water. the duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease, the effect achieved and averages 7-14 days. if necessary, after consultation with a doctor, the course of treatment can be continued.
Children aged 6–12 years are prescribed inside by ½ – 1 tablet 2-3 times a day, after dissolving it in ¼ cup of warm water.
Contraindications

Overdose
Nausea, vomiting, weakness, diarrhea, dizziness, cold sweat, pallor, cyanosis of the mucous membranes, with severe poisoning, impaired consciousness, agitation, hallucinations, convulsions.
Treatment: gastric lavage, saline laxatives, activated charcoal, symptomatic therapy.
