Pharmacological properties
Econazole, an imidazole derivative, is a broad-spectrum antifungal drug for external use. It has a fungicidal and bactericidal effect. The mechanism of action of econazole is due to inhibition of ergosterol biosynthesis, which regulates the permeability of the cell walls of microorganisms. it is active against dermatophytes, yeasts, and molds: trichophiton rubrum, trichophiton mentagrophytes, trichophiton tonsurans, microsporum canis, microsporum audouini, microsporum gypseum, candida albicans, torulopsis, ricotorumfricorumfuriforumfuryfurformica , aspergillus, cladosporium, scopulariopsis brevicautus and some gram-positive bacteria (streptococci, staphylococci and nocardia minutissima).
When applied topically to the skin, systemic absorption of econazole is extremely negligible. Although most of the applied preparation remains on the surface of the skin, its concentrations, which are determined in the keratinized layer, significantly exceed the minimum therapeutic concentration for dermatophytes. Therapeutic concentrations are determined in the epidermis and even the dermis. Less than 1% of the applied dose is excreted in urine and feces.
Indications
Dermatomycosis of the legs and other areas of the skin caused by sensitive mushrooms, including those complicated by superinfection - gram-positive bacteria; candidiasis of the skin; multi-colored lichen; onychomycosis; mycoses of the auditory canal.
Application
Ecodax cream is for external use only.
In adults and children over the age of 16 years, the cream is applied to the affected areas of the skin with a thin even layer in the morning and evening and rubbed until completely absorbed.
Damp parts in the crease should be pre-dried with gauze. In the treatment of onychomycosis, the cream should be applied 1 time per day under an occlusive dressing.
The duration of treatment is 2 weeks. Treatment of highly keratinized skin (foot) may last 1.5 months.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to econazole or other components of the drug. age to 16 years.
Side effects
Local reactions are possible: contact dermatitis, burning, itching, irritation and hyperemia of the skin, dryness, urticaria, blisters, exfoliative changes in the skin, pain, hypopigmentation, skin rash, very rarely - skin atrophy. in isolated cases - hypersensitivity reactions, angioedema.
special instructions
Avoid contact with eyes. in case the therapy is ineffective during the period of treatment indicated in the section, the appointment of alternative treatment should be considered. treatment should be discontinued if there are any symptoms of hypersensitivity or skin irritation.
Use during pregnancy and lactation. Studies on the use of econazole during pregnancy have not been conducted. Since there is a systemic absorption of the drug, it is not recommended for use during pregnancy. It is not known whether econazole nitrate passes into breast milk. Therefore, the use of the drug during breastfeeding is possible provided that the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the possible risk to the baby. You should not apply the drug to the nipples and the area around the nipples.
The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms. Unknown
Children. There are no data on the safety of econazole in children under the age of 16 years, therefore it is not recommended for patients of this age group.
Interactions
Econazole inhibits cyp 3a / 2c29 with systemic effects. however, given that the drug is poorly absorbed into the systemic circulation, the occurrence of clinically significant interactions is unlikely. patients who take oral anticoagulants, such as warfarin and acenocumarol, should be careful and monitor the coagulation parameters.
Overdose
No cases of overdose have been reported.
Storage conditions
At a temperature not exceeding 30 ° c. do not freeze.
