Pharmacological properties
Vitamins of the group (b1, b2, b6, pantothenic acid and nicotinamide) are involved in the metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins and fats, they are also important for the functioning of the nervous system. Vitamin A is necessary for the development of epithelial cells and the synthesis of visual pigment. Vitamin D regulates the absorption of calcium and promotes proper mineralization of bones and teeth. Vitamin C controls the absorption of iron and takes part in redox processes in the body. Vitamin E, a physiological antioxidant, protects cell membranes from damage and preserves their functionality.
Minerals and oligoelements are very important for the body. They are constituent tissues or activators and constituents of enzymes and hormones. Calcium and phosphorus, which are part of the drug Duovit, are the main mineral components of bone tissue and teeth. Calcium ions activate many enzymes, are involved in the regulation of cardiac muscle tone, transmission of nerve impulses and regulate the permeability of cell membranes. Iron and copper along with B vitamins are necessary for erythropoiesis. Magnesium, manganese, zinc and molybdenum are part of most enzymes that catalyze the most important biochemical reactions in the body.
Water-soluble vitamins (B vitamins, vitamin C and biotin) are very well absorbed within daily requirements. Amounts that exceed absorption by tissues are excreted in the urine, in some cases also with feces.
After oral administration, the fat-soluble vitamins A and D are well absorbed in the small intestine in the presence of fats. Vitamin E absorption is relatively low (25–85% of the dose). These vitamins accumulate in large quantities in the liver and are therefore more toxic than water-soluble vitamins.

Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the drug, hypervitaminosis a, e and d, renal failure. nephrolithiasis, gout, hyperuricemia, erythremia, erythrocytosis, thrombophlebitis, thromboembolism, fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, iron or copper metabolism disorder, hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, thyrotoxicosis, chronic gromozarnephritis, gromozarne disease, duodenum (due to a possible increase in the acidity of gastric juice), active forms of tuberculosis. childrens age up to 10 years.
Side effects
Side effects that may occur when using the drug duovit are classified into the following groups according to the frequency of occurrence: very often (1/10); often (1/100, 1/10); infrequently (1/1000, 1/100); rarely (1/10 000, 1/1000); very rarely (10,000); frequency unknown (cannot be determined from available data).
In each group, side effects are presented in decreasing order of severity.
If you take Duovit tablets as directed, then they do not cause side effects.
On the part of the immune system: in people with hypersensitivity, allergic reactions are possible, including anaphylactic shock, angioedema, bronchospasm.
From the side of metabolism and digestion: hypercalcemia.
From the nervous system: headache, dizziness, drowsiness.
From the side of the organ of vision: visual impairment.
From the gastrointestinal tract: dyspeptic disorders, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, belching, constipation, diarrhea, increased secretion of gastric juice.
On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissue: skin rashes, urticaria, itching, redness of the skin.
From the kidneys and bladder: discoloration of urine, hypercalciuria.
General disorders: hyperthermia, increased irritability, increased sweating.
With prolonged use in high doses, the following side effects occur:
from the side of metabolism and digestion: hyperuricemia, decreased glucose tolerance, hyperglycemia.
From the nervous system: paresthesia.
From the cardiovascular system: arrhythmias.
From the gastrointestinal tract: irritation of the gastrointestinal mucosa.
From the skin and subcutaneous tissue: dryness and cracks in the palms and feet, hair loss, seborrheic rashes.
From the kidneys and bladder: impaired renal function.
Laboratory indicators: transient increase in activity of AsAT, LDH, alkaline phosphatase.
special instructions
Duovit is taken after meals, otherwise unpleasant sensations in the stomach may occur.
Patients with diabetes can use Duovit, but they should be aware that the daily dose contains 1.6 g of sugar. Each coated tablet contains 0.8 g of sugar.
It is prescribed with caution in cases of liver damage, peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum in the anamnesis, in patients with acute nephritis, with decompensation of cardiac activity, gallstone disease, chronic pancreatitis, allergic diseases, idiosyncrasy, patients with diabetes mellitus, patients with neoplasms.
Women taking high-dose retinol (10,000 IU) can be scheduled for pregnancy no sooner than after 6–12 months. This is due to the fact that during this period there is a risk of abnormal development of the fetus under the influence of a high content of vitamin A in the body. It is possible to stain urine in yellow, which is completely harmless and is explained by the presence of riboflavin in the preparation.
The drug is not recommended to be prescribed simultaneously with other multivitamins, since an overdose of the latter in the body is possible.
Special warnings regarding inactive ingredients. Duovit contains lactose, sorbitol, glucose and sucrose. Patients with rare hereditary forms of fructose or galactose intolerance, Lapp lactase deficiency or glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrose-isomaltase deficiency should not take this drug. Azo dyes E124 and E110 can cause allergic reactions.
During pregnancy and lactation, you can take vitamins and minerals only as directed by a doctor.
The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles and working with other mechanisms. There are no reports that the drug affects the ability to drive vehicles and work with other mechanisms.
Children. Duovit is not recommended for children under 10 years of age.
Interactions
It is not recommended to use the drug simultaneously with tetracyclines and antacids, since this reduces the absorption of minerals and tetracyclines. some antacids reduce the absorption of minerals.if simultaneous administration of such drugs is necessary, the interval between the use of duovit tablets and tetracycline or an antacid agent should be at least 3 hours.
Due to the possible occurrence of hypervitaminosis A, the simultaneous use of Duovit with other drugs containing vitamin A or oral retinoids is not recommended.
Vitamin E should be avoided when using oral anticoagulants due to increased tendency to bleed.
During sulfanilamide therapy, vitamin C in high doses should not be taken to prevent crystalluria.
Pyridoxine attenuates the effect of levodopa if the patient accepts only levodopa.
Riboflavin reduces the absorption and effectiveness of antibiotics. It should be taken at least 3 hours before or 3 hours after taking the antibiotic.
Overdose
At the recommended dosage, no intoxication is expected. long-term use in high doses can cause hypervitaminosis a and d, although the likelihood of an overdose is minimal. with an overdose of vitamin D, weakness, anorexia, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, weight loss, fever, and convulsions occur. an overdose of vitamin A can lead to headache, dizziness, sleep disturbance, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, photophobia, and seizures. if the above symptoms occur, stop taking the drug and consult a doctor immediately. when using vitamin E in high doses, headache, fatigue, nausea, diplopia, muscle weakness, mild creatinuria and gastrointestinal disturbances can occur.
