Pharmacological properties

for external use, the drug Dr. Mom® has an irritating, distracting, anti-inflammatory and antiseptic effect. pharmacological properties are due to the components that make up its composition:

• menthol - dilates blood vessels, causes a feeling of cold, accompanied by an anesthetic effect;
• camphor - has an irritating and analgesic effect;
• thymol - an antiseptic with antibacterial and antifungal effects;
• turpentine and eucalyptus oil - have an irritating effect when applied topically;
• nutmeg oil - inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins.

Pharmacokinetics The drug does not have a systemic effect.

Indications

• As part of the complex treatment of acute respiratory diseases, accompanied by a runny nose, a feeling of nasal congestion, cough; symptomatic therapy of muscle pain, back pain, headache.

Application

For adults and children over the age of 3 years, Dr. mom® ointment is prescribed up to 3 times a day. with a runny nose or nasal congestion, a small amount of ointment is carefully applied without rubbing onto the skin of the nose wings; with a cough associated with a cold, the ointment is applied in a thin layer on the skin of the chest (in the sternum) and gently rubbed; with a headache, the ointment is applied to the skin of the temporal region; for pain in the muscles, back, ointment is applied to the area that hurts, lightly rub and cover this area with a warm bandage.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity / allergic reactions to active substances or excipients of the drug. hypersensitivity to the components of the drug; ba, whooping cough, false croup, tendency to cramps, children under 3 years of age, irritation or violation of the integrity of the skin, including burns, eczema, dermatitis, pustular skin diseases.

Side effects

Allergic reactions are possible, including skin rash, hives, itching, irritation of the skin and mucous membranes, redness, dermatitis, including contact dermatitis, especially in children.

From the side of the immune system: hypersensitivity (allergic reactions), anaphylactic shock.

From the nervous system: headache, dizziness, agitation, seizures caused by camphor may occur.

From the respiratory system: when using the drug, it is possible to increase the likelihood and frequency of bronchospasm, especially in children.

On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissues: allergic dermatitis.

If such reactions occur, treatment should be stopped immediately.

special instructions

Use only as an external agent! do not rub into the nostrils, avoid getting the drug in the eyes, on the mucous membrane of the nose and mouth (rinse with plenty of water if it gets into it). Do not apply on damaged skin! if new symptoms persist, worsen or appear, stop using the drug and consult a doctor.

Use during pregnancy or lactation. There is no experience with the use of the drug in women during pregnancy and lactation, so it is not recommended to use the drug in this category of patients.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or other mechanisms. In case of adverse reactions from the nervous system (dizziness, agitation, convulsions), one should refrain from driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms.

Children. The effectiveness and safety of the drug in children under the age of 3 years have been studied insufficiently. For children over 3 years of age, use with caution, on the recommendation and under the supervision of a doctor.

Interactions

With other drugs with topical administration of the drug, the interaction is minimal.It is not recommended to be used simultaneously with other ointments and creams.

Overdose

Perhaps an increase in the severity of adverse reactions, a feeling of intense heat and burning. if accidentally ingested, abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, symptoms of central nervous system depression, dizziness, ataxia, convulsions, hot flashes, drowsiness, shortness of breath are possible.

Treatment: wash off the applied preparation with soap and water, gastric lavage, symptomatic therapy.
