Pharmacological properties

Edenrino is a combination drug containing phenylephrine and dimetinden.

Eden Rino reduces nasal discharge and helps cleanse the nasal passages without disturbing the physiological functions of the ciliated epithelium and nasal mucosa.

Phenylephrine belongs to sympathomimetic amines. Used as a nasal decongestant with moderate vasoconstrictor action, selectively stimulates α₁-adrenergic receptors of the cavernous venous tissue of the nasal mucosa. Thus, it quickly and permanently eliminates edema of the nasal mucosa and sinuses.

Dimetinden - histamine H antagonist₁-receptors, exhibits anti-allergic effect. Effective when used in low doses, well tolerated.

Eden Rino is used topically, therefore its activity does not correlate with the concentration of active substances in blood plasma.

With random oral administration, the bioavailability of phenylephrine decreased and was approximately 38%, T_½ - about 2.5 hours

The systemic bioavailability of dimetinden after oral administration in the form of a solution is about 70%, T_½ - about 6 hours

Indications

Symptomatic treatment for colds, nasal congestion, acute and chronic rhinitis; seasonal (hay fever) and non-seasonal allergic rhinitis, acute and chronic sinusitis, vasomotor rhinitis. adjunctive therapy for acute otitis media.

Preparation for surgical intervention in the nose and elimination of swelling of the nasal mucosa and sinuses after surgery.

Application

Before administering the drug, thoroughly clean the nose.

Adults and children over the age of 6 years: 1 injection in each nasal passage 3-4 times a day.

The bottle should be held vertically with the spray gun up. Keeping your head straight, insert the tip into the nasal passage, press the nebulizer with a short sharp movement and, pulling it out of the nose, unclench. During injection it is recommended to inhale slightly through the nose.

The duration of treatment should not exceed 7 days and depends on the course of the disease.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug.

Due to the content of phenylephrine, this drug, like other vasoconstrictors, is contraindicated in atrophic rhinitis, as well as in patients taking MAO inhibitors or taking them for the previous 14 days.

Side effects

Usually the drug is well tolerated.

In some cases, mild temporary local reactions from the nasal mucosa (burning sensation or dryness) are possible. Very rarely - the development of allergic reactions (in particular local reactions from the skin, itching, swelling of the eyelids, face, general weakness).

special instructions

Eden rino should not be used for longer than 1 week.

As with other vasoconstrictors, do not exceed the recommended dose of the drug. Excessive use of the drug, especially in children and the elderly, can cause manifestations of the systemic effect of the drug.

It should be used with caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, angle-closure glaucoma, and thyroid diseases.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. The drug is not prescribed during pregnancy and lactation.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms. Does not affect.

Children. In children under the age of 6 years, the drug in this dosage form is not used. Another dosage form of the drug should be used - Milt nasal drops.

Interactions

The drug is contraindicated in patients using MAO inhibitors or taking them for the previous 14 days.

Vasoconstrictors should be prescribed with caution to people taking tricyclic antidepressants and antihypertensive drugs, such as β-adrenergic receptor blockers.

Overdose

In case of accidental administration of the drug by young children inside, no serious side effects were reported.

Most cases were asymptomatic, very rarely reported sensation of fatigue, pain in the stomach, mild tachycardia, increased blood pressure, irritability, insomnia, pallor of the skin.

Treatment: the use of activated carbon, it is possible to use laxatives in young children (gastric lavage is not required); adults and older children are prescribed a large amount of fluid.
