Pharmacological properties
Medetrom is a combination of GCS with an antimicrobial agent. dexamethasone is a corticosteroids that helps prevent or reduce inflammation of the eye. tobramycin is an antimicrobial active against a wide range of microorganisms that can infect the eye.
Indications
Inflammation of the eyes in steroid-sensitive patients who are indicated for the use of corticosteroids and there is a superficial bacterial infection or a risk of developing a bacterial infection of the eye. these inflammatory processes may occur after surgery or may be caused by infection, foreign body contact with the eye, or eye injury.
Application
Medetrometer is used only for instillation into the eye.
Use in adults and children over the age of 1 year. Standard dosage: 1-2 drops in the eye every 4-6 hours. The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor.
Rules for the use of the drug. Before using the drug, wash your hands. Shake the bottle well and unscrew the cap. To tilt the head back, to pull the lower eyelid with a clean finger to form a sac between the eyelid and the eye. A drop should get there. Raise the tip of the vial to the eye. You can use a mirror. Do not touch the dropper on the eye or eyelid, or other surfaces (this may contaminate the drops). Gently press the bottle to release 1 drop of the drug. After applying the drops, release the lower eyelid, close the eye and gently press with your finger on the inner corner of the eye near the nose. This will prevent the systemic effect of the drug. If necessary, repeat the same procedure for the other eye. Immediately after use tightly screw the cap onto the bottle.
Only one vial should be used at a time.
If a drop does not get into the eye, repeat the procedure.
If a larger than necessary dose of the drug is instilled, it is necessary to rinse the eye with warm water and do not use the drug more until the next dose is instilled.
If you forgot to use the drug, you should drip a single dose as soon as you remember. But if it is time for the next dose, then you should skip the one that you forgot about and return to normal mode. Do not use a double dose.
When using other eye preparations, it is necessary to take a break of 10-15 minutes between taking them.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity (allergic reaction) to tobramycin and / or dexamethasone or any other components of the drug;
- untreated purulent infection of the eye;
- viral infection of the eye (epithelial keratitis caused by the Herpes simplex virus, which is a superficial infection of the eye and is characterized by tree ulcers on the surface of the eye);
- cowpox (smallpox), chickenpox (chickenpox) or other viral infection of the eye (except keratitis caused by Herpes zoster virus);
- fungal diseases of the eye structures;
- mycobacterial infections of the eye (eye tuberculosis).
