Pharmacological properties

Cytochrome-c belongs to the group of antihypoxic drugs and is an enzyme involved in the processes of tissue respiration. iron, which is contained in the prosthetic group of cytochrome c, is capable of reversibly changing from the oxidized form to the reduced one. the introduction of cytochrome c increases its content in tissues, normalizes and accelerates the metabolism in tissues and reduces hypoxia. cytochrome c has cytoprotective, antihypoxic and antioxidant properties.

The pharmacokinetics of the drug has not been investigated due to the presence of this substance in human blood under physiological conditions.

Indications

Cytochrome c in injection form is used in complex therapy as a means of improving tissue respiration, in conditions accompanied by a violation of oxidative processes - asphyxia of newborns; severe injuries; before and after surgery (in order to prevent shock), during the period of remission, with the presence of pulmonary insufficiency, with asthmatic status, as well as in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and heart failure; with chronic coronary heart disease and myocardial infarction; with repeated fibrillations or ventricular tachycardia; with viral hepatitis complicated by hepatic coma; with senile degeneration of the retina, with poisoning with sleeping pills, carbon monoxide and other intoxications, chronic bronchitis.

Application

Before using cytochrome c in an injectable form, individual sensitivity to it should be determined. for this purpose, 0.1 ml of the drug (0.25 mg) is administered intradermally. if the reaction does not develop within 30 minutes (flushing of the skin, itching, urticaria), then you can start treatment with the drug. Before prescribing a second course, a biological sample must be repeated.

The drug is administered to adults and children in / in a stream or drip, or in / m (depending on the pathology and severity of the condition) in an amount of 10-20 mg 1-2 times a day. The course of treatment is 10-14 days.

For heart diseases, the drug at this dose is administered in 200 ml of isotonic sodium chloride solution or 5% iv glucose solution in drops (30–40 drops / min) for 6–8 hours. 12–32 ml are administered per day. (30–80 mg) of the drug.

In the postoperative period (surgery for congenital and acquired heart defects), as well as for coronary insufficiency, the drug is administered intravenously 2 times a day, 4 ml (10 mg) per injection. In case of a serious condition (trauma, shock, hepatic coma, poisoning with sleeping pills and carbon monoxide), the drug is administered iv in a stream at a dose of 20–40 ml (50–100 mg). With asphyxiation of newborns, the drug is injected into the umbilical vein during the first 2 minutes after birth in a dose of 4 ml (10 mg).

In AD, the drug is prescribed intramuscularly 2 times a day at a dose of 2–4 ml (5–10 mg) per injection. The course of treatment is from 14 to 25 days, depending on the phase and stage of the disease.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the drug.

Side effects

With rapid iv administration of the drug, chills may occur with an increase in body temperature. allergic reactions of varying severity from skin itching to hives may occur.

Interactions

The drug reduces the toxicity of cardiac glycosides, enhances their positive inotropic effect.
