Pharmacological properties

Otinum is a drug with anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects for topical use in otology. choline salicylate is a derivative of salicylic acid. inhibits the activity of cog - the enzyme responsible for the synthesis of prostaglandins - the synthesis of thromboxane and prostacyclin. glycerol, which is part of the drug, helps soften and facilitate the removal of earwax. when applied topically, the drug does not have a systemic effect.

Indications

External acute otitis media and chronic otitis media in the acute phase, acute otitis media, tympanitis. can also be used before washing the external auditory canal to remove the sulfur plug.

Application

Adults with acute otitis media and tympanitis, as a rule, are prescribed 3-4 drops in the external auditory meatus 3-4 times a day. the duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease.

To soften the sulfuric plug before removing it from the ear, 3-4 drops are prescribed in the external auditory meatus 2 times a day for 4 days.

After instillation, the patient should be in the ear position up for several minutes.

In children under the age of 1 year, the drug can be used only under the supervision of a doctor. Children and elderly patients are prescribed in the same dose as adults.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to salicylates or other NSAIDs (including aspirin asthma), perforation of the eardrum, pregnancy and lactation.

Side effects

Allergic reactions (itching, flushing of the skin in the ear). prolonged use of the drug, as well as perforation of the eardrum in patients can lead to hearing impairment.

special instructions

Derivatives of salicylic acid when they enter the middle ear through a damaged eardrum can cause hearing impairment or deafness. in this regard, you can not use the drug without prior otoscopy.
