Cefimek

Cefimec inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell wall enzymes and has a wide spectrum of action with respect to various gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.

Highly resistant to hydrolysis by most β-lactamases and low affinity for β-lactamases encoded by chromosomal genes, and quickly penetrates into gram-negative bacterial cells.

Structure

Active ingredient: cefepime, 1 bottle contains cefepime hydrochloride, equivalent to cefepime 1000 mg.

Excipients: L-arginine.

Contraindications

Cefimec is contraindicated in patients with immediate hypersensitivity reactions to cefepime or L-arginine, as well as to cephalosporin class antibiotics, penicillins or other β-lactam antibiotics.

Mode of application

The usual dosage for adults is 1 g intravenously or intramuscularly with an interval between doses of 12 hours.

The usual duration of treatment is 7-10 days; severe infections may require long-term treatment.

However, the dosage and route of administration vary depending on the sensitivity of the pathogens, the severity of the infection, and the functional state of the patients kidneys.

Recommendations regarding the dosage of the drug are given in the table in the instructions.

Overdose

In the case of a significant excess of the recommended doses, especially in patients with impaired renal function, side effects are amplified.

Overdose symptoms include encephalopathy, accompanied by hallucinations, impaired consciousness, stupor, coma, myoclonia, epileptiform attacks, neuromuscular irritability.

Side effects

From the digestive tract: nausea, vomiting, candidiasis of the oral cavity, diarrhea, colitis.

From the central nervous system: headache

With a frequency of 0.05% to 0.1%: abdominal pain, constipation, vasodilation, respiratory distress, dizziness, paresthesia, genital itching, fever and candidiasis.

Anaphylaxis and epileptiform attacks were observed with a frequency of less than 0.05%.

Local reactions at the injection site: phlebitis and inflammation, pain.

Hypersensitivity: itching, urticaria

Others: fever, vaginitis, erythema.

Storage conditions

Shelf life 3 years.
