Pharmacological properties

The active substance of the drug is phenylbutazone - an NSAID that also has an antipyretic and analgesic effect. phenylbutazone inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins, thereby reducing inflammatory reactions in the tissues.

Phenylbutazone inhibits the synthesis of ATP-dependent mucopolysaccharide. It also affects the excretion of uric acid by reducing the reabsorption of uric acid in the tubules.

The entry into the systemic circulation with topical administration is negligible.

Indications

Skin lesions caused by mechanical injury or chemical burns; burns of the i – ii degree, occupying a small surface area of ​​the skin, sunburns. inflammation of the skin at the injection site or in / m injection, insect bites. inflammation of the hemorrhoid. traumatic injuries of soft tissues, local edema, hematomas, muscle and tendon strains, phantom pain after amputation of an extremity. local therapy of superficial thrombophlebitis as an adjunct to anticoagulant therapy. as an additional therapy for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, synovitis, tendonitis, tenosynovitis.

Application

For adults and children over the age of 14, apply the ointment to the affected area of ​​the skin with a thin layer without rubbing 2-3 times a day.

Elderly patients do not need a special regimen

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to phenylbutazone or any of the components of the drug. an attack of b or an allergic reaction (allergic rhinitis, urticaria) after the use of acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs in history. for the treatment of deep vein thrombosis of the extremities. use of the drug under a closed dressing. the use of the drug in the eyes, around the eyes, on the mucous membranes, on open bone fractures, open wounds. eczema or other skin diseases that are treated with corticosteroids. simultaneous use with other drugs containing phenylbutazone. children under the age of 14. During pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Side effects

With topical use of NSAIDs, local side effects may first appear, but systemic side effects may develop depending on the amount of phenylbutazone that has been ingested.

Blood and lymphatic system: the most dangerous may be agranulocytosis, in addition to which aplastic anemia, thrombocytopenia can form.

Immune system: hypersensitivity reactions (including erythema, asthma attacks, Stevens-Johnson syndrome).

Metabolism: fluid retention in the body.

CNS: dizziness, headache.

Respiratory system: bronchospasm, BA.

Digestive system: nausea, vomiting, stomach or duodenal ulcer, gastric bleeding, perforation, pancreatitis.

Hepatobiliary system: impaired liver function may occur.

Skin: rash, itching, redness of the skin, erythema, exfoliative dermatitis, photosensitivity.

Kidneys and urinary system: impaired renal function, especially in elderly patients and patients with renal pathology.

Systemic disorders: edema.

special instructions

In case of irritation, therapy should be discontinued and the drug replaced with an alternative agent.

The drug is not suitable for the treatment of deep vein thrombophlebitis.

After applying the ointment, wash your hands thoroughly.

The area of ​​the skin on which the ointment is applied should be protected from direct sunlight to prevent the occurrence of photosensitivity.

Use during pregnancy and lactation. During pregnancy and lactation, the drug is contraindicated. When using NSAIDs, congenital malformations of the fetus can form.

Children. In children under the age of 14, the use of ointment is contraindicated.

The ability to influence the reaction rate when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms. There is no evidence that phenylbutazone affects the ability to drive vehicles or other mechanisms, but the possibility of developing dizziness should be considered (see ADVERSE EFFECTS).

Interactions

With topical use of phenylbutazone, there is no data on interaction with other drugs.

Avoid the combined use of ointments with other NSAIDs, the active substance of which in large quantities binds to blood plasma proteins.

Overdose

There are no data on overdose cases when using the ointment. due to the low systemic absorption of the drug, overdose is unlikely.

Treatment: in case of accidental overdose of NSAIDs, supportive and symptomatic therapy.
