Broxinac eye drops are indicated for the treatment of postoperative inflammation and pain relief in patients after cataract extraction.
Structure
Active substance: bromfenac;
1 ml of a solution of eye drops contains sodium bromfenac sesquihydrate 1.035 mg, which is equivalent to bromfenac free acid - 0.9 mg;
Excipients: benzalkonium chloride, boric acid, sodium edetate, polysorbate 80, povidone K-30, sodium boron acid, sodium sulfite anhydrous (E 221), sodium hydroxide, water for injection.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any of the components of the drug, as well as to other NSAIDs.
The use of the drug is contraindicated in patients who are suffering from attacks of bronchial asthma, urticaria and symptoms of acute rhinitis when taking acetylsalicylic acid and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
The use is contraindicated in patients under the age of 18 years (the safety and effectiveness of the drug in children have not been investigated).
Mode of application
Recommended instillation in the conjunctival sac 1 drop once a day. Treatment begins 1 day before surgery and continues for the first 14 days of the postoperative period (including the day of surgery). Before the introduction of eye drops, contact lenses should be removed. You can install them again 15 minutes after instillation.
When using several local topical ophthalmic drugs, the interval between their administration should be at least 5 minutes.
If you skip taking the drug, you should use the medicine rather at the dose that is prescribed by the instructions. If after skipping almost 24 hours have passed, the drug should be used the next time it is intended, doubling the dose to compensate for the missed one.
For elderly patients, the regimen of taking the drug does not differ from that in younger patients.
Application features
Pregnant women
The use of the drug is possible if the expected effect for the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
Avoid prescribing the drug in the third trimester of pregnancy.
Children
Contraindicated.
Drivers
The drug slightly affects the ability to drive vehicles or mechanisms. Short-term blurred vision after administration of the drug is possible, therefore, it is recommended to wait until complete restoration of vision before proceeding to control transport mechanisms.
Overdose
In case of an overdose, eye irritation and conjunctival hyperemia are possible.
If you accidentally use the drug inside, you must immediately drink a large amount of liquid to reduce the concentration of the drug in the stomach and consult a doctor.
Side effects
- On the part of the organ of vision: a feeling of discomfort and unusual sensations in the eyes, eye irritation, pain, itching and burning in the eyes, redness of the eyes, conjunctival hyperemia, inflammation of the iris of the eyes. There are few post-marketing messages about corneal erosion, corneal perforation, thinning of the cornea, and destruction of the corneal epithelium.
- From the nervous system: headache.
- From the respiratory system: epistaxis, cough, nasal discharge, bronchial asthma.
- General disorders: swelling of the face.
Interaction
The drug can be used simultaneously with other ophthalmic preparations with α-adrenergic agonists, β-blockers, carbonic anhydrase inhibitors, mydriatics. In this case, drugs should be used with a break of at least five minutes.
Storage conditions
Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C in the original packaging.
