Pharmacological properties

Bifonazole (1α - (- biphenyl-4-ulbezyl) imidazole) is a broad-spectrum antifungal agent. depending on the dose, has a fungistatic or fungicidal property. the mechanism of action of the drug is due to a violation of the synthesis of ergosterol, which is part of the cell membrane of fungi. active against dermatophytes, yeast (including the genus candida), mold (malassezia furfur) and other fungi, gram-positive cocci. corynebacterium minutissimum, piturosporum orbiculare are also sensitive to the drug. after topical application of bifonazole, only 0.6–0.8% of the active substance is absorbed from the surface of healthy skin and 2–4% in inflammatory processes of the skin.

The half-life is 19–32 hours. After 6 hours, the concentration of bifonazole in the upper and papillary layers of the epidermis corresponds to or many times exceeds the BMD for the main causative agents of dermatomycosis.

Indications

Dermatomycosis caused by dermatophytes, yeast, mold and other fungi, including mycoses of the feet, hands, smooth skin and skin folds; multi-colored lichen, superficial candidiasis; erythrasma.

Application

The gel is applied once a day in the evening before bedtime with a thin layer on the affected area of ​​the skin and rubbed. a single dose is set taking into account the size of the lesion - for processing area the size of a palm using a column of gel with a length of about 5 mm.

The duration of treatment for foot mycoses and skin lesions in the interdigital spaces of the legs is 3 weeks; with mycoses of brushes, folds of skin and smooth skin - 2-3 weeks; with multi-colored lichen and erythrasma - 2 weeks; with superficial candidiasis - 2–4 weeks.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.

Side effects

Allergic and local reactions are possible (mild hyperemia, skin irritation, in some cases - burning and tingling).

The use of the drug in the i trimester of pregnancy is possible only according to strict indications. treatment of infants with the drug can only be carried out under the supervision of a doctor.
