Pharmacological properties.
The drug has anti-pedicular activity and acaricidal effect on various types of ticks, including scabies. The death of lice occurs after 2-5 hours, ticks - after 7-32 minutes.
Indications for use.
An emulsion of benzyl benzoate 20% is used in the treatment of scabies, redheads and demodecosis, pityriasis versicolor, oily seborrhea, pediculosis.
Dosage and administration.
The benzyl benzoate emulsion is applied topically topically (the drug must be shaken before use).
When treating scabies and pityriasis versicolor, it is necessary to take a shower before applying the emulsion. An emulsion is abundantly moistened with a gauze or cotton swab and rubbed into the skin; hands are treated first, then legs and torso. Hands should not be washed after treatment for 3 hours. After treatment, the patient puts on clean linen; makes a change of bedding. Processing is done 1 time per day for 3 days. After completing the course of treatment, the patient takes a shower and makes a change of linen. If necessary, repeat the treatment.
In the treatment of redheads and demodicosis, an emulsion of 20% benzyl benzoate is applied in a thin layer on the skin of the face 3-5 times a day, protecting the eyes from getting the drug. The duration of treatment is determined by the dynamics of cleansing the skin, stopping the inflammatory process, stopping itching.
In the treatment of oily seborrhea, the drug is applied in a thin layer to the scalp for 30 to 40 minutes, after which the head is washed. The procedure is carried out 2 to 3 times a week.
In the treatment of pediculosis, the emulsion is applied to the scalp, rubbing lightly into the skin and hair; head tied with a scarf. After 30 minutes, the drug is washed off with running water and rinsed with warm 5% vinegar solution. After the procedure described, hair is washed with soap or shampoo and combed with a frequent comb to remove nits. The processing efficiency is determined after 24 hours, and if necessary, the procedure is repeated.
For children under 5 years old, the drug is diluted with boiled water in a ratio of 1: 1.
Side effect.
When treating facial skin and skin folds, a slight burning sensation, redness of the skin, and allergic reactions may occur.
Contraindications
Pustular skin diseases, individual intolerance to benzyl benzoate, pregnancy, lactation.
Interaction with other drugs.
The interaction of the benzyl benzoate emulsion with other drugs is not known.
Overdose.
In cases of overdose, an increase in the side effects of the drug is possible.
