Dentol (Dentol)


Pharmachologic effect:
Benzocaine, which is the active substance of Dentol, is a local anesthetic. It blocks the conduction of nerve impulses, reduces the permeability of cell membranes for sodium ions, thereby providing complete anesthesia of the skin and mucous membranes.
The action of Dentol begins 1 minute after applying the drug, the duration of the action is 20 minutes. The absorbed drug undergoes rapid hydrolysis of cholinesterase blood plasma and, to a lesser extent, cholinesterase of the liver to metabolites that contain para-aminobenzoic acid. The excretion route is through the kidneys, mainly in the form of metabolites.


Indications for use:
Dentol 7.5%
- For quick relief of pain in children from 4 months with teething.
- As a temporary fast-acting way to relieve toothache in children.
- As anesthesia for dental treatment, minor damage to the inner shell of the oral cavity.
- In the treatment of aphthous stomatitis.

Dentol 10%
- For quick relief of toothache in adults and children over 6 years old.
- A temporary method of pain relief with sore gums, minor damage to the inner shell of the oral cavity.
- Anesthetic for short duration dental procedures.


Mode of application:
Before using Denthol, you need to wash your hands, open the lid, cut off the sealed tip of the tube and apply a small amount of gel on the gums in the area of ​​teething. For toothache, apply gel around the affected tooth. The procedure can be done 3-4 times a day. It is not recommended to use more than 7 consecutive days.


Side effects:
Preparations whose active ingredient is benzocaine (2-10%) are usually well tolerated. They are non-toxic and non-irritating. Side effects may be associated with exceeding the recommended dosage or with individual intolerance to the drug. If itching, swelling, hyperemia occurs at the site of application of the gel, you should stop taking Denthol.


Contraindications:
- Infectious process at the site of application of the drug.
- The presence on the mucous membrane of multiple injured sites.
- Hypersensitivity to benzocaine.


Pregnancy:
May be used with caution.


Interaction with other drugs:
Dentol should not be used in conjunction with sulfa drugs and cholinesterase inhibitors.


Overdose:
If you adhere to the overdose, overdose is not possible. In the presence of multiple injuries of the mucous membrane in the oral cavity or with a significant excess of the recommended dose, it is possible to increase the adsorption of the drug and increase its concentration in the blood serum. In this case, the appearance of edema, hyperemia and itching at the site of application of Denthol is possible. In rare cases, stimulation or depression of the central nervous system, inhibition of the cardiovascular system and the occurrence of methemoglobinemia are possible. If these symptoms occur, it is recommended to rinse the mouth with warm soda solution and then consult a doctor.


Release form:
Dental gel 7.5% and 10% for 15 g in tubes.


Storage conditions:
Storage temperature 15-30 degrees Celsius. Shelf life is 4 years.


Structure:
Dentol 7.5%:
1 g of gel contains 75 mg of benzocaine.
Auxiliary components: glycerin, polyethylene glycol 75, polyethylene glycol 8, sodium saccharin, ascorbic acid, cherry flavor, water, red dye.

Dentol 10%:
1 g of gel contains 100 mg of benzocaine.
Auxiliary components: glycerin, polyethylene glycol 75, polyethylene glycol 8, sodium saccharin, ascorbic acid, cherry flavor, water.
