Pharmacological properties

Due to the m-cholinolytic effect of belladonna extract, the drug reduces the tone and motor activity of the smooth muscles of the gastrointestinal tract and other organs, and reduces the secretion of exocrine glands. the analgesic effect of the drug is due to the effects of metamizole sodium and a local anesthetic - benzocaine. sodium bicarbonate neutralizes free hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

Indications

Dyspeptic symptoms (heartburn, belching, epigastric pain, intestinal colic) with hyperacid (with increased acidity of gastric juice) gastritis; peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum; gallstone disease; spastic colitis.

Application

Bellalgin is intended for short-term symptomatic therapy, so the duration of its use is set individually. if the symptoms of the disease do not disappear within 3-5 days, treatment tactics should be reviewed. the drug is used orally 1 tablet 2-3 times a day after meals. the highest doses for adults: single - 3 tablets, daily - 10 tablets.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the drug, glaucoma, chronic liver and kidney diseases, benign prostatic hyperplasia, inhibition of hematopoiesis, neutropenia, pregnancy, up to 14 years of age.

Side effects

At the recommended dose, the drug is usually well tolerated, but the following side effects are possible.

From the digestive system: dry mouth, thirst, constipation.

From the hemopoietic system: leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis (due to sodium metamizole included in the preparation).

Allergic reactions: urticaria, angioedema.

From the nervous system: dizziness, weakness, headache, sleep disorders, agitation.

From the side of the organ of vision: mydriasis is possible.

From the cardiovascular system: tachycardia is possible.

special instructions

The use of the drug during pregnancy is justified only in cases where the intended benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.

In the case of the use of the drug should stop breast-feeding.

The use of the drug in patients whose activities require a high concentration of attention and speed of psychomotor reactions is not recommended.

There are no clinical data on the efficacy and safety of use in children, so Bellalgin should not be prescribed to patients under 14 years of age.

Interactions

The effect of metamizole sodium is enhanced by codeine, H2-receptor blockers and propranolol.

Simultaneous administration with other non-narcotic analgesics, tricyclic antidepressants, hormonal contraceptives and allopurinol can lead to increased toxic effects. Metamizole, displacing oral hypoglycemic drugs, indirect anticoagulants, corticosteroids and indomethacin from the protein bond, increases their activity.

Overdose

The manifestations of side effects are amplified.
