Pharmacological properties
Hemoferon is a balanced complex of ferrous iron, vitamin β12 and folic acid, necessary for the normal process of hematopoiesis in the bone marrow. iron is part of hemoglobin, myoglobin, various enzymes, reversibly binds oxygen and ensures its transport to tissues, participates in a number of redox reactions, and stimulates erythropoiesis. the need for iron is especially increased during the period of active growth, pregnancy, breastfeeding, with menstrual and other bleeding. folic acid along with cyanocobalamin stimulates erythropoiesis, participates in the synthesis of amino acids, nucleotides, nucleic acids, and choline metabolism. during pregnancy, it is necessary for the normal development of fetal nerve fibers, protects it from the effects of teratogenic factors, and plays an important role in cellular immunity reactions. cyanocobalamin is involved in the synthesis of nucleotides, is an important factor in the normal growth and development of epithelial cells, is necessary for the metabolism of folic acid and the synthesis of myelin. cyanocobalamin and folic acid also inhibit the development of megaloblastic anemia and neurological disorders.
After ingestion, iron in the form of a divalent ion is almost completely absorbed in the digestive tract and enters the systemic circulation. Cmax iron in blood plasma is reached after 2–4 hours after taking the drug. Iron is almost completely associated with plasma transferrin and is involved in the formation of hemoglobin, myoglobin, cytochrome oxidase, catalase and peroxidase, or is deposited in the cells of the reticuloendothelial system. T½ is about 12 hours. It is excreted in feces, urine and sweat.
The binding of folic acid to plasma proteins is 60–65%, its metabolism occurs in the liver. Eliminated mainly by the kidneys, partly through the intestines.
Indications
Treatment of iron deficiency and folic acid deficiency anemia; conditions associated with an increased need for iron and other components of the drug (during pregnancy, breastfeeding, the period of intensive growth and puberty, hypochlorhydria, acute and chronic blood loss, burn disease, the condition after surgery on the stomach, celiac disease, a sharp decrease in body weight) .
Application
Hemoferon taken orally, it is better for 30-40 minutes before eating. the dosage of the drug is carried out using a measuring cup or a dosing syringe. adults and children over the age of 12 are prescribed 15–20 ml / day once. for the treatment of iron and folic acid deficiency anemia in children under the age of 12 years is prescribed in the following doses (table):
Age | The daily dose of the drug, ml |
---|---|
6–9 months | 5 |
10-12 months | 7,5 |
1-3 years | 10 |
4-6 years old | 12,5 |
7-10 years old | 15 |
The drug contains ethyl alcohol. The permissible concentration of ethyl alcohol in preparations for children is 0.5%. In this regard, the daily dose of the drug for children must be divided into 2 doses and mixed with a tablespoon of water. The duration of treatment is determined individually. The average duration of treatment is 1-3 months.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug. excessive accumulation of iron in the body (hemosiderosis, hemochromatosis) or predisposition to it. all other types of anemia, as well as conditions not caused by iron deficiency (hypo-, aplastic and hemolytic anemia, siderohrestical anemia, iron-refractory anemia, anemia in case of lead poisoning, thalassemia, hemoglobinopathy).
