Pharmacological properties
phosphalugel is a balanced aluminum phosphate gel. It has an acid neutralizing, enveloping, adsorbing effect. reduces the proteolytic activity of pepsin, binds bile acids and lysolecithin.
Due to the buffering properties of aluminum, phosphate neutralizes only excess hydrochloric acid, preserves the physiological conditions of digestion and does not lead to secondary hypersecretion of gastric juice. The antacid effect of the drug manifests itself quickly.
Aluminum phosphate micelles have a large contact surface, envelop the mucous membrane with a uniform layer, protect it from aggressive factors and promote regeneration. The cytoprotective effect of the drug is due to its ability to activate the synthesis of prostaglandins, which stimulate the secretion of mucus and bicarbonate ions in the gastric mucosa. The use of the drug does not lead to disturbances in the electrolyte balance, does not cause the development of alkalosis and the formation of calculi in the urinary tract.
Pharmacokinetics Aluminum phosphate neutralizes hydrochloric acid to form aluminum chloride. Under the influence of the alkaline environment of the intestine, the latter turns into alkaline aluminum salts, which are poorly absorbed and excreted in the feces. Phosphalugel does not bind dietary phosphates, does not lead to violations of calcium-phosphorus metabolism, osteoporosis and osteomalacia. It belongs to the group of nonabsorbable antacids.
Indications
Treatment for acid-dependent diseases. phosphalugel is used both as monotherapy and as part of complex therapy for: gastric ulcer and duodenal ulcer, acute gastritis, chronic gastritis with normal or increased secretory function of the stomach, hiatal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux disease (including reflux esophagitis), duodenal-gastric reflux, functional dyspepsia, functional diarrhea, gastrointestinal disorders caused by intoxication, intestinal infections, medication GOVERNMENTAL means irritant substances (acids, alkalis), discomfort and epigastric pain, heartburn, acid eructation, flatulence that occur after errors in the diet, the excessive use of coffee, alcohol and smoking.
Application
Stir the contents of the bag between the fingers until a uniform gel is obtained. hold the bag vertically, cut off or tear off one of the corners in the designated place. squeeze the gel with your fingers through the opening of the package.

If in the intervals between taking Fosfalugel the pain resumes, then the drug should be repeated.
The maximum daily dose is 6 packets.
The dosage regimen depends on the nature of the disease: hiatal hernia, gastroesophageal reflux disease, duodenogastric reflux - taken after meals and at night; peptic ulcer of the stomach and duodenum - taken 1–2 hours after eating and when pain occurs; gastritis, functional dyspepsia - before eating; functional diarrhea - in the morning before meals and at night.
Doses for children: up to 6 months of age - ¼ package or 1 teaspoon after each of 6 feedings; after 6 months - ½ packet or 2 teaspoons after each of 4 feedings.
The duration of therapy is no more than 2 weeks.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to aluminum phosphate or other components of the drug. severe abdominal pain of unspecified genesis, habitual constipation, chronic diarrhea. Alzheimers disease.
Side effects
Sometimes constipation occurs, especially in bedridden patients and the elderly. in these cases, it is recommended to consume a sufficient amount of liquid.phosphalugel contains sorbitol, which can lead to the development of diarrhea.
In people with hypersensitivity to the components of the drug, allergic reactions may develop.
special instructions
It is not recommended for use with chronic renal failure, since aluminum phosphate does not reduce plasma phosphorus levels.
If the symptoms of diseases / conditions in which Phosphalugel is prescribed do not disappear within 7 days, you should consult a doctor. If you experience abdominal pain, which is accompanied by fever, vomiting, you should immediately consult a doctor.
The drug contains sorbitol. It should not be used in patients with fructose intolerance. If the patient is intolerant of certain sugars, you should consult your doctor before using this medication.
Children. Phosphalugel is used in children of all age categories.
During pregnancy and breastfeeding. The safety profile of the use of Phosphalugel during pregnancy and lactation has not been established. The data obtained on the use of aluminum phosphate in women in the third trimester of pregnancy in clinical trials allow the use of phosphalugel in therapeutic doses periodically (for a short time) according to indications.
Does not affect the ability to drive vehicles or work with other mechanisms.
Interactions
Antacids interact with some other drugs that are absorbed into the digestive tract. there is a decrease in absorption in the gastrointestinal tract of drugs that are simultaneously used with antacids: furosemide, bumetanide, fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, norfloxacin, ofloxacin, perfloxacin). Phosphalugel is recommended to be taken 2 hours before or after taking other medicines and 4 hours before or after taking fluoroquinolones.
Overdose
When using high doses, constipation is possible up to intestinal obstruction. the consequences of an overdose are more serious in patients with renal failure.
Storage conditions
At a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.
