Betayod Plus Oral Spray is indicated:
- with disinfection of the oral cavity and pharynx;
- with inflammatory and infectious diseases: tonsillitis, pharyngitis, tonsillopharyngitis, tonsillitis, glossitis and stomatitis;
- as part of a comprehensive treatment with antibiotics for streptococcal angina; first symptoms of acute respiratory viral infections.
Structure
Active substances: povidone-iodine, allantoin;
1 ml of the drug contains povidone iodine - 85 mg, allantoin - 1 mg;
Excipients: propylene glycol, menthol, citric acid, sodium, ethanol 96%, purified water.
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;
- Herpetiform dermatitis of Dühring;
- Hyperthyroidism, adenoma, or thyroid dysfunction;
- Decompensated heart failure;
- Renal failure;
- 2 weeks before and after examination or therapy with radioactive iodine.
Mode of application
Spray applied topically to the mucous membrane of the oral cavity and pharynx.
To spray a preparation from a bottle with an oral spray device.
Remove the safety cap.
Press 2-3 times until the solution enters the spray gun and after pressing starts to spray.
Insert the tube of the oral spray into the oral cavity, hold your breath and press 2 times, each time directing the stream of the drug to the corresponding section of the throat cavity on the right and left. When applying the bottle, you need to keep it upright.
Do not inhale or swallow the sprayed solution!
Apply to adults and children over 8 years old, as a rule, 2-4 times a day, if necessary - every 4 hours.
Spray can be applied no more than 6 times a day.
The duration of treatment depends on the nature and course of the disease and is determined individually by the doctor.

Overdose
With proper local use of the drug in the mouth or pharynx, there were no cases of overdose. However, if iodine solution was swallowed, acute poisoning developed. Patients initially felt a metallic taste in the oral cavity, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhea began. Within 1-3 days, anuria was observed, swelling of the glottis followed by asphyxiation, aspiration pneumonia or pulmonary edema. In some cases, even severe circulatory disorders were observed.
The treatment is symptomatic and first includes standard measures to prevent further absorption in the gastrointestinal tract. The patient needs to drink milk and brewed starch.
Side effects
- On the part of the immune system: very rarely symptoms of hypersensitivity, anaphylactic shock.
- From the gastrointestinal tract: rarely: dry mouth.
- On the part of the skin and subcutaneous tissue: allergic reactions to iodine are rarely possible; drug withdrawal is required: itching, hyperemia, urticaria.
- General disorders and changes at the injection site: often: burning sensation at the site of application (especially in children), dry mouth.
Interaction
It is not recommended to combine the drug with other antiseptic agents for the oral cavity and pharynx, primarily with hydrogen peroxide.
The drug should not be used simultaneously with disinfectants containing mercury; ointments, which include enzymes, or benzoin tincture; the drug is incompatible with oxidizing agents, alkali salts and substances with an acid reaction.
