Agerp refers to antiviral agents that are highly effective against herpes viruses, especially herpes simplex viruses type I and II, as well as herpes zoster virus. after entering the cell affected by the herpes virus, acyclovir is converted into active acyclovir triphosphate. its activity is associated with a violation of the synthesis of dna of herpes viruses in a human cell due to inhibition of the function of viral dna polymerase. Acyclovir does not affect other cellular processes that are not associated with the synthesis of viral dna. the pharmacokinetics of the drug have not been studied, but, taking into account the literature, acyclovir in the form of a cream has a very low level of systemic absorption, even with repeated use.
Infections of the lips and face caused by the herpes simplex virus (herpes labialis).
For adults and children over the age of 12 years, agerp cream is applied to the affected areas 5 times a day with an interval of 4 hours, with the exception of nighttime. It is important to start treatment as soon as possible after the onset of the first symptoms of the disease. the minimum duration of treatment is 4 days. if healing has not occurred during this time, treatment is continued for up to 10 days. if recovery does not occur within 10 days, consult a doctor.
Hypersensitivity to acyclovir, other components of the drug or valaciclovir.
The drug as a whole is well tolerated, but in some cases temporary acute or burning pain may appear at the site of use. rarely there may be slight drying and peeling of the skin, erythema and pruritus. very rarely the development of contact dermatitis is possible, and in some cases angioedema after topical application of the cream with acyclovir.
Agerp cream should be used only for herpetic lesions of the mucous membrane of the lips and face skin. It is not recommended to apply the drug to the mucous membranes of the oral cavity, eyes and genitals. in case of especially pronounced manifestations of the disease, it is necessary to consult a doctor. usually in the presence of herpetic lesions in persons with immunodeficiency conditions, systemic treatment with antiviral agents is prescribed, therefore, in such cases, you should not use agerp on your own without consulting a doctor.
Accidental contact with eyes should be avoided. In the presence of open lip lesions, it should be borne in mind that the herpes simplex virus can be transmitted to others by contact.
Use during pregnancy and lactation. Agerp is used during pregnancy and lactation if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus or child.
